Taylor Quick could have been downplaying things when she called one of her unexpected melodies for night 2 in Liverpool, Britain, “somewhat startling.”
Making its Times Visit debut on Friday night (June 14), Quick played out “This Is The very thing You Came For” — the Board Hot 100 top five hit delivered by Calvin Harris and Rihanna in 2016, which Harris co-composed with his then-sweetheart Quick — in a blend with Evermore’s “dash for unheard of wealth” for the first of two shock acoustic melodies.
With a guitar threw over her cobalt-blue ombre maxi dress, Quick presented the melody by recognizing that it very well may be a particularly astounding shock tune. “Each and every time that we have an acoustic set, I’m continuously attempting to consider things that you should hear, perhaps things that may be somewhat expected,” she told the Anfield Arena swarm. “We should perceive how we did this evening.”
While “This Is The very thing You Came For” was making its Periods Visit debut, Quick has played out the tune two times previously: once in 2016 at her Recipe 1 U.S. Stupendous Prix show in Austin, Texas, and once in 2017 at her Super Saturday Night show in Houston, Texas, in front of that year’s Super Bowl.
